Just a normal Friday morning @ Banger. Not much you can say about a run! But I did want to say that I think my BB from last week touched a nerve with some folks, and I wanted to follow up with a few sub-topics.
First, I wanted to apologize if anyone was offended or felt singled out – as if that post was about them specifically. It wasn't meant that way.
Second, I'm running an OTB tomorrow, so I know I'm a little bit full of shit on this topic. So this applies as much to me as anyone. I just really like the culture of posting the workout on twitter if you're going to do an OTB thing. Let guys know, and open it up, be inclusive. Open to all men, that's part of the F3 mission, right? That's all.
Third and more broadly… I wish we were more open to the idea of seasonal or non-weekly AO's. Why can't Bonesaw or Titan's old Five Miler be a monthly-only thing? Why can't Gaga be spring/fall seasonal or Mad Scientist take a winter hiatus? What rule book says we absolutely must have an AO open every single week or it can't be an AO? As long as we're updating the website and preblasting the info on Twitter, we've communicated adequately – we should be able to customize our routines. Being a leader, an MQ of an AO, shouldn't sign you up to this obligation in perpetuity. I think that's why some guys avoid it – they know they've found a routine that works for the next 3-6 months, but don't want to sign up for the long-haul. Dude I've been there, let's get creative about a solution. Maybe we need to say the words and create that culture: it's OK to start and lead an AO, it's also OK to end the AO if it has run it's course and nobody wants to continue it. And it doesn't absolutely have to be weekly. Can that be a thing? Smarter men than me should discuss.
