1 Pax posted for a #sadclown off the books unofficial launch of F3 Banbury England.

Warmorama:  did some hip physical therapy exercises and then walked to the nearest roundabout

The Thang:

Still riding high from a dream day at Wimbledon — and realizing that I am not the young whipper-snapper I was back in the day, YHC decided to set off for a little afternoon run.

Did about 1 3/4 miles but at a fast tempo for my recovery schedule.  So because there was going to be a mutiny from the pax, YHC decided to stop and walk a bit, ya know, for the good of the pax.  Then a slow mosey back to the AO (the aforementioned roundabout).

COT:  saw some sketchy people down by a canal.  So I said a prayer for safety.  Does that count?

Ye ol' moleskin

  • So the map showed a straight line 1.3 miles to a city center.  But I soon found out that nothing is straight in England.
  • After a bit of meandering, I happened upon Grimsbury Resevoir.  The sign called it a "family friend" resevoir and had picture of small sailboats.  Well the name GRIMsbury should have been a red flag.
  • But it was really the chain link fence with barbed wire that clued me in.  I was soon running down a path with barbed wire fencing on both sides.
    • Hence, the tempo run!
  • There was a random guy inside the barbedwire fence next to the resevoir with a wheelbarrow of some form of powder that he was dumping into it.  At this point I'm figuring it is protein powder and this is the resevoir where they are hiding Nessy to keep her from the public's eye.
  • I make it to the backside of the resevoir and lo and behold there is an Amazon distribution center.
  • I passed a few people along the way.  Brits don't smile nor wave.  Not sure why, but I intend to get to the bottom of it before the week is out.
  • I took first place for Lake Norman on the Strava segment around Grimsbury Resevoir —  #clydesdalefast
  • Great launch for F3 Banbury England.  Great Q today.
  • Blackbeard, we (and by we I mean me) will need a twitter handle and a website.
  • If I post again tomorrow I entend to name myself Sir Stray of Oxfordshire
