On Tuesday, Mona Lisa Eats Tacos

If you've posted to GAGA, you know that on Tuesday, the pax run fast.  And if you've posted to uptown #TacoTuesday, you know that on Tuesday, Mona Lisa eats tacos.  Lots of tacos.

Today's #TacoTuesday took place at pax favorite Que Onda, home of $2 tacos and the notorious Nacho Cheese Of Death (NCOD).  Go time was 1145am, and by 1145, 6 pax had congregated at the front of the restaurant.  However, in part due to the weather and the fact that QO wasn't seating patrons outside, there were no tables to be had, and the pax were made to wait 15 minutes.

By noon, the pax were seated, chips were served, and orders were taken.  Hoodie rolled in just in time to place his order.

The el Mas Macho Taco Eating Competition is just around the corner, and Mona Lisa's training plan called for 8 tacos.  Actually, I can't recall the last time ML ordered fewer than 8 tacos.  That's like the equivalent of a 3 mile run for Mortimer, or 10 pullups for Kosar, or 10 burpees for DonHo.  Fish in a barrel.

Anyway, ML had a meeting to get to, so he had to plow through his tacos today.  Magnus snapped a quick pic before ML demolished everything on his plate.

YHC went with 3 carnitas and 1 ground beef today, specifically because I was told the last time the pax came to QO that that was the way to get some NCOD.  Alas, my tacos arrived with a different sauce.  I suppose I would call it the green sauce.  Or maybe weak sauce.  It was mild AF.  Fortunately, Roadie's tacos came with some NCOD, which he gifted to me.  Someone else would later give me an additional NCOD, and I used this as well.  By the end of the meal, I had the sweats something fierce.  It was great.

Ramrod reported early this morning that he was out for #TacoTuesday today, but at 1145, he came rolling in ready to go.  Don't know what strings he pulled to be able to make it today, but you can't question the dedication.  He might have bested YHC for the "Mas Tacos Por Favor" award at the Xmas party this past weekend, but unfortunately he made a few of his #TacoTuesday appearances in the del Norte, where they don't do backblasts anymore.

Nor can you question the dedication of Roadie, Magnus, and Hoodie.  Roadie has #TacoTuesday blocked off on his calendar every week and rarely misses.  Magnus had a message waiting for YHC on Slack first thing this morning, wanting to know where the pax were headed.  Hoodie never misses, even when launch is 1145 and he can't exit the building till noon.  The most unsafe place to stand is between these pax and some tacos.

LittleFinger is fast becoming a TacoTuesday regular, and joined Slack solely for the TacoTuesday info.  He's also about to crush his first Half Marathon this coming weekend.

Till next week,

TC
