OTB with the 4-Banger (Shark Week – Day 4 of 5)

Shark Week (5 years / 5 Q’s), Day 4: not a REAL AO, and technically a running workout… yeah so maybe I cheated with Q #4 this week.  But I wanted to go to my regular spots, and if I'm posting on a Friday lately, this is it.  I've been on-and-off with Emmaus over the years, but I've enjoyed the 4-Banger (aka Checkpoint run) during the COVID period.  Actually Emmaus was probably the origin of the run… the same four mile loop from Birkdale was an informal alternative to the Emmaus bootcamp – you could run instead of the bootcamp and just get back in time for the bible study.  I've found Emmaus to be a really meaningful workout to attend on weeks when I'm feeling especially worn down by life.  I think the 4-Banger has been a great COVID-life alternative, as it's got the later start time, a safe route with no major street crossings, and we'll checkpoint (wait for the six at four designated spots – which mostly keeps everyone together the whole way).  And coffee after.  If you're struggling with summer conditions, or just trying to get more miles as we head into fall running season, you should try it sometime!  Birkdale, Friday at 5:45am.
