OverRULEd by Steve Irwin

Most of the F3 LKN AOs have cinder blocks available, but only a handful also have bricks on the premises, so when my QvQ competitor Crocs selected Gladiator, it felt criminal not to utilize these in the workout.  Plus, there are lots of great "brick" related songs for playlist building.  That was going to be the extent of YHC's creativity… until…

…11:45 laying in bed, unable to sleep with Q-fueled adrenaline…

Estwing's BrainHey! You should really get some sleep!  Also, don't you have a wig from a prior Halloween costume and some khaki colored clothes?  You're facing off against a guy named CROCS

Thanks brain!

22 PAX gathered at Gladiator to hear a really bad attempt at an Australian accent face off against the man, the myth, the legend known as Crocs.

WARM-O-RAMA:

THE THING – ESTWING:

PAX each grab two bricks and circle back up

Soundtrack (before you comment at me — Ben Folds not making the cut was very much intentional)

  1. "Brick House" by Commodores
  2. "Brick" by Albert Collins
  3. "Old Yellow Bricks" by Arctic Monkeys
  4. "Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd
  5. "Brickyard Road" by Johnny Van Zant

Workout consisted of an upper body excercise, followed by a run to the end of a parking row, followed by a lower body exercise, etc. etc. until YHC's time was up.  Exercises included:

  • Kneeling Alternating Curl x 20 IC
  • Jump Squats x 20 IC
  • Alternating Tricep Kickbacks x 20 IC
  • Alternating Curtsy Lunges x 20 IC
  • Renegade Rows x 20 IC
  • Alternating Side Lunges x 20 IC
  • Reverse Fly x 20 IC

THE THING II – CROCS:

Crocs' first instruction was to swap out the bricks and grab a block.  From my recollection, the PAX were one block short, so Crocs' second instruction was to instruct Ultraman to lead a mobility moment while he ran back to his vehicle for the final block.

  • Ultraman led Pigeon, left and right (the PAX approved)
  • Ultraman led Catcher's Pose

Crocs is back!  PAX pair up.  ** Disclaimer — the exercises and counts below are to the best of my memory but there is a high liklihood of low accuracy **

  • Teammate 1 runs to first parking lot island and does 10 Merkins and 10 LBCs
  • Teammate 2 Farmer Carries both blocks to island and does 10 Shoulder Shrugs
  • Trade off all the way to the end and turn around
  • Teammate 1 runs to first parking lot island and does 20 Dry Docks and 20 Rocky Balboas
  • Teammate 2 Farmer Carries both blocks to island and does 20 Shoulder Shrugs
  • Trade off all the way to the end and turn around
  • Teammate 1 runs to first parking lot island and does 15 Hand Release Merkins and 15 WWII Situps
  • Teammate 2 Farmer Carries both blocks to island and does 15 Shoulder Shrugs
  • Trade off all the way to the end and turn around
  • Teammate 1 runs to first parking lot island and does 10 Shoulder Tap Merkins and 10 LBCs
  • Teammate 2 Farmer Carries both blocks to island and does 10 Shoulder Shrugs
  • Final Mobility Moment

Recover.  Recover.  Estwing and Crocs wander off behind the Boy Scouts trailer while the PAX vote.  Lots of indistinguishable trash talking can be heard.  Very close vote, YHC was the victor.  Crikey!
