Pick Your Pain (Get to 100)

Event Date

Apr 12, 2022

YHC forecasted in the #pb that I was coming off IR after tweaking my back at last week's Mr. Holland-led Arnie's Army and that there would therefore be options at today's #Blender.  4 pax (including one second-post FNG) decided to join YHC for whatever that meant.

Knowing that Estwing was bringing an FNG who needed a KB, YHC showed early and grabbed one, and at 0530 we all made our way with KBs to the back of GCC.

Circle up, disclaimer.

WARM-O-RAMA:

  • SSH x 25 IC
  • IST x 10 IC
  • Windmill x 10 IC
  • Willie Mays Hayes x 10 IC

THE THANG:

Jog lap around GCC as a group (approx. 0.25 mile) while getting to know FNG (TJ) and explaining today's Thang to the pax.

YHC had created a chart of exercises, each with point values.  Each pax must run a lap, and then get to 100 points.  And then repeato that x 3 and wait for further instruction.

First 100 point round we did together – 25 squats followed by 25 mericans followed by 25 squats.  Then a lap.

The chart:

  • Merican = 2 pts
  • KB Curl = 1 pt
  • Squat = 1 pt
  • Burpee = 5 pts
  • Run the required lap with another pax = 10 pts (so to encourage sticking together)

Pax could get to 100 pts any way they wished, and YHC was pleased to see the pax using all four exercises nearly every round, and also sticking together on runs.

After completing four rounds of a lap + 100pts, gather up for intermission – 90 sec People's Chair.

Second chart, same concept as the first:

  • Hand Release Merican = 3 pts
  • KB Lawnmower = 1 pt
  • KB Skullcrusher = 1 pt
  • Burpee = 5 pts
  • Run law with another pax = 10 pts

Again, YHC was pleased to see pax using the full chart to get to 100.  I think we got through either 2 or 3 rounds of a lap + 100 pts before needing to return to the front of GCC with our bells for a short Mary:

  • J-Lo x 25 IC
  • WWII x 20 OYO
  • J-Lo x 25 IC (to complete the April daily challenge)

Recover, recover.

MOLESKIN:

  • Thanks to the pax this morning for indulging YHC in a pick-your-pain type of beatdown with a little more running than usual for Blender.  After having to back out of a couple Qs last week while on IR, I was hoping not to have to do so again today, but also wanted to have the option to modify away from certain exercises if my back issue started to act up.
  • Welcome to TJ, who works with Estwing in supply chain at Lowe's, and who worked previously in supply chain before moving to the area 5 years ago.  Estwing came in with a number of potential supply chain related names, and the pax settled on Deadhead, which is arguably a little too cool, but we went with it anyway.  Nice work today, Deadhead!  Workouts won't get easier, but you'll get stronger.  Tclaps to Estwing for the EH.  Estwing, be sure to get my man signed up on the website and back out to another workout soon!
  • The Force had work to do out of town today, and had the option of leaving early for that but decided to get in a beatdown before leaving town.  Glad you decided to join, and glad that we could work in the J-Lo's for you as well.  Cobains for all the running.
  • Thanks to fellow Goatbuster Perrier for joining as well…. while chatting with YHC during one of the runs, Perrier remarked that he was at the very first Blender years ago, with Bogey, Friday, Springfield, and other legendary Blender pax.  What would it take to get some of these pax back out?  Who has the pull with these estwhile Blender pax?  Dallas?
  • We lifted up in prayer Tuffy and family, as well as (Force's 2.0) Zaire's gf.
  • Thanks to Flo for the opportunity to lead this am, and thanks as always to Auto and Eeyore for the EH in June 2016 – I'm forever grateful.

Aye,

TC
