Ping Pong Between Weight Rooms at The Wilderness


It was a bit chilly in the gloom, but fortunately much of the smoke had cleared.  Still code red air quality?  Let's hope not…  Our brother, Spare, is fighting an illness, so YHC jumped on the opportunity to help a brother when he's down.  15 pax arrived in the dark, chilly gloom and the Master Q (YHC) reintroduced them to a friendly game of ping pong…

 

WARMORAMA: Mosey around the park, then around the tree and traffic circle at the clubhouse.  DISCLAIMER.  SSHs x 15, ISTs x 15, Cotton Pickers x15, Mtn Climbers x 15, Merkins x 10.

At the park, count off in 4s:  1s = 10 pull ups.  2s = 25 dips.  3s = 10 burpees.  4s = swing leg plank crunches.  Rotate through all 4.

Mosey down Hugh Torrence Parkway.  Stop at the first Rock Pile by tennis courts, pick a rock, leave it where you can find it again, then mosey on.  At the bottom (4 way stop), turn and quadrophelia up the hill.

Stop at the upper Rock Pile (aka "The Weight Room").  High Curls, Low Curls, Full Curls all x 10.

Mosey back down Hugh Torrence Parkway (and the "Ping Pong" has begun).  At the bottom, turn and quadrophelia up the hill until you are reunited with your original rock again.  Squats, Dead Lifts, Squats all x 10.

Back up to the Weight Room.  Skull Crushers x 20, Alternating Shoulder Press x 10.

Back down to the smaller weight room.  Side Lunge Dead Lift kind of thang x 10.  Throw in a few regular Dead lifts, then Cotton Pickers needed!!!

Back up to the Weight Room.   Chest Press x 31.  Put your weights away.

Back to the smaller Weight Room.  Steep, wet Tunnel of Love.  Return your weights.

Mosey behind the tennis courts and onto the basketball court, where Mary with a Rope (MWAR) awaits.  

Recover, Recover.

The paddleless moleskine:

When we took off for a joggy jog around the park, those were the first paces of running YHC has taken in about 9 weeks.  Add in the back and forth between the weight rooms and we put in 1.65 miles this AM – perfectly following my doctor's orders of easing my way back in.  It felt great and sucked all at the same time.

Appreciate Titan and IKEA joining us today.  The Wilderness launches at 0510 sharp.  Every week.  For 4 or more years now.  Let me know when you finish the workout!

There was chatter about the dead lifts and side-lunge-dead-lift-whatevers and there always is!  Hopefully one day they will hurt less the days following the workout.  There was chatter as we left that weight room and headed back up the hill, too.  I always respect Goat's maturity, leadership, service, etc.  But I especially appreciate the laughs you can easily get from him by dropping mindless innuendo humor.  Something about 2 more reps while we were still stiff…

Ran low on time and had to rush the Mary and the rope go-round, but we fit it in none the less (Goat is snickering while reading that).  Remember when Jorel used to post with us and instigate and laugh with all the TWSS remarks?  Did he move?  Did he and Black Eye Pea move somewhere together?

Post some comments, fellas.  Remind us of the fun that was had.  Call someone out.  Tell someone they crushed it this morning (I would have given t-claps to Toxic if he'd grabbed that boulder we all pointed out to him, but he would take it, claiming he didn't know what he'd have to do with it, yet he called out every next exercise before the Q did!).  We need to get all the pax reading and enjoying the BBs again.  The comments are what always make me seek the BBs out.  Bet some of our newer pax might not even be aware of them…
