WHAT: The Polar Bear 2018
WHEN: Saturday, February 3rd at 0730 (gates/frivolities open at 0700) ending around 10:00 when we will have coffeeteria (beerateria, breakfasteria) at Primal Brewery afterwards
WHERE: NEW LOCATION North Meck Park (16131 Old Statesville Rd. Huntersville, NC 28078)
WHO: F3 Pax, FNGs and your Clowncar Friends
The Polar Bear is a CSAUP event that will challenge you to step out of your usual Saturday routine. Your normal 1-hour F3 beatdown will have to be put on standby for this weekend. Let's face it, the Super Bowl is the next day and your game-time grazing could use the extra calorie burn. If you can complete a regular workout, you can participate in the Polar Bear. No man left behind. It will be challenging enough for the most beastly of pax, however, has many options for the not-so-stout of strength and stamina.
Suit up: There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear decisions. Check the weather and plan accordingly. YOU WILL HAVE TO CARRY YOUR OWN HYDRATION AND SUSTINENCE (read: "water and snacks"). The event is 2-1/2 hours of activity. If you have never taken part in a Polar Bear in the past, you are in for a real treat. If you have participated in the past, we have lots of new things this year. We are at a new location to spice up the variety (i.e. limit* exposure to water for all you complainers). North Meck Park has fields, playgrounds, hills, fences, walls, rockpiles, courts, trails, bridges and lots of hidden gems.
Sneak Peak of the Plan: We will warm up together, then break into teams (broken up in an extremely random way). Team size will be based on the number of pax present. Details will be disbursed and each team will be given an initial task to complete. A choose-your-own-adventure format ensues from there. Every team earns points based on the tasks they complete. This is a team-led, you-vs-you environment. It is not a race (read: "it's a race"). Fun is the prize and everyone's a winner! Freedom and YHC have put a lot of preliminary work into this event to make it the best yet. Feedback for future Polar Bears will be considered on a first-come-first-REJECTED basis…kidding.
Afterwards: Primal Brewery has once again teamed up with F3 to open early and provide us a place to share coffee, breakfast, brews and bruise stories.
*There is a possibility of getting wet for all you real men out there. If your loins can't take it, there are other options…pansy.
