Prayer

14 PAX + Cutler (our dog PAX)

Warm up
Halloween is near, so for fun; To the tune of "Ghostbusters", we did continuous squats with a burpy on every time they say ghostbuster, switching from squats to jumping jacks half way for more cardio.
15 Speed Skaters
15 Windmills

Tighten up the circle, turn to your right facing the back of the man to your right.  Get close enough to put your left hand on that man’s left sholder.  Since todays title is Prayer…, please bow you heads…

Father, you have given me the honor of leading this group of men today.  I choose not only to make them stronger physically, but more importantly, stronger spiritually.  I want every man here to know the importance and power of prayer.  We should pray for every man here on a regular basis, some individually as needed, and often for those who are not here.    But right now I want to lay down a responsibility on each man here; to say a prayer for the person in front of him at least once this week.  Pray for his health, Pray for his family, Pray for his spiritual growth, Pray for his safety.  Think of how encouraged that man you are praying for will feel, knowing that someone, YOU, have his six this week.  And Lord, don’t let these men forget that while they are praying for the man in front of them, that the man behind him is praying for him as well.    Iron sharpening Iron.  Lord we are thankful that you, creator of all things, extend your hand out to us, and listen to our prayers.  In Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen.

Reflection
Prayer
The bible has many verses about prayer, here are a few to focus on:

Pray for each other…
Jude 20-21 (NLT)

20 But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, 21 and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.

Pray everywhere…
1 Timothy 2:8
(NLT)
In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

Pray at all times…
Ephesians 6:18
(NLT)
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Ephesians 6:18, follows the well known…

Ephesians 6:10-17 (NLT)
The Whole Armor of God

10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we[a] are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.[b] 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.[c] 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Recently I heard a sermon about prayer, and we blew through a quick recap of the armor of God, to make a point of: After being suited up for war; What do you do?  The very next verse is what I just read (18), says to PRAY!…  Prayer is your greatest weapon.  Use it.
