Principles of Combat

  • I arrived at the old stomping grounds of GCC to find a shovel flag staked below the street lamp by the ball field.

The PAX began to arrive and prepare for the morning. Some appearing to not know what to expect. Some knowing exactly what to expect.

Warmorama

  • rucks overhead 2 mins total
  • Team briefed on Priciples of Combat:
  1. Cover and move
  2. Prioritize and execute
  3. Keep it Simple
  4. Decentralize command

Thang

  • Report to pull-up forest land form up
  • collect 4 logs and return
  • Enron promoted to TL
  • TL to move squad only while having a point man in front and back on the offensive position (cover and move)
  • TL led the team with logs around the loop and did not follow instructions on Cover and Move and subsequently got shot and had to start over
  • TL successfully led the team around and set the standard of 5 mins, congratulated, and fired
  • Jobe promoted to TL of teams.
  • Team debriefed and created new plan
  • Teams made it around and set new standard of 4:10
  • debriefed again and determined they need to simplify the plan
  • repeato and new standard set 3:30
  • Ramrod and Dingo promoted to TL
  • now the teams are to compete (decentralized command)
  • the teams made it around the loop again in 3:10 new standard
  • The teams experienced all 4 principles of combat this morning and we're challenged to identify how these might apply to their daily lives.

  • all performed well and by the end of the morning what started as an all out %#*!-show ended up as a solid team setting new standards

Pointy Moleskin:

  • Jobe & Cherrybomb are a bicep beast
  • The Goatbusting is strong with this crowd
  • There are some emerging studs Possum, Slingshot, Nair, and Enron
  • Ramrod, Swingstate, & Tuffy clearly have danced above the lighting before

Truly grateful to lead this team today.  I love bringing these lessons to life in a tactical way.
