With the NC Stay-At-Home order being relaxed next week, the Huntersville/Cornelius region will officially re-open workouts on May 11. While it will be great to get back outdoors and see our F3 brothers, we need to still recognize that COVID-19 is still a thing and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. As men of F3, it is on us to be leaders in our community. And we need to ensure that we are not behaving in a way that reflects poorly on F3.

Here are a few things to remember:

  1. Gatherings should still be limited to 10 or less for the next 2-3 weeks in compliance with the state order. It may be helpful for pax to HC to pre-blasts so that everyone can get a sense of how many attendees there will be. If a workout has over 10, pax should be ready to co-Q and split the groups up.
  2. Pax should practice social distancing. This means 6 feet apart, no fist bumps, no huddle during COT, no exercises that require touching other pax (partner carry, prison squats, etc.), and no sharing equipment.
  3. Pax are STRONGLY encouraged to wear face coverings to workouts – this can be a bandana, scarf, gaiter, or anything else that covers your mouth.
  4. If you are sick, STAY HOME. If your family member is sick, STAY HOME. If you are in contact with individuals that are sick, STAY HOME. This should go without saying, but I am still saying it for good measure.

Right now, the Q calendar is totally empty. It’d be great if pax could step up and fill that calendar up to help out MQs. If you Q a workout, please try to create something that puts the pax in a big open space and keeps them apart from each other. Additionally, I’m encouraging all MQs and/or Qs to possibly share virtual versions of the workouts so that pax that are homebound can join in on the suck.

Remember – your situation may not be the situation of the man next to you. Some of us may be health professionals who have exposure to the virus and are quarantined by necessity. Others may have family members at home who are immunocompromised and cannot take the risk of bringing the virus back home. And still others may not be comfortable just yet with engaging in group workouts. We need to respect all these men, but still be there for them in any way we can.

Personally, YHC will likely be homebound as a precaution given that we have an infant in the house, and they’ve shown to have severe symptoms when exposed to the virus. However, I’m still looking very forward to getting back outdoors and having F3 brothers push me. It’s not quite the same as working out alone in a garage. If you have any suggestions or questions, please feel free to reach out to me via Twitter or Slack. Or just comment below! These are especially hard times, but we will come out of this stronger. And ALWAYS REMEMBER – F3 is not JUST for working out. If you’re experiencing some sort of hardship, this group is here for you. To talk, to help, to support, you name it. Support your F3 brothers both in and out of the gloom.

Aye.
