PAX

Stay Strong

If you've been with us from the beginning you are starting to see things differently by now.  Especially if this is your first trip through the Word.  If you just joined us, it won't take long.  As Mr. Burns put it, "You just seem to fall right in. I didn't feel behind at all."

T-Claps to Silverbullet for asking great questions  of the PAX on Slack and T-Claps to Big Mean, Mr. Burns, and Mortimer for joining along.

Week In Review

Old Testament
One of the main themes of this week's Old Testament could be "things to fall asleep listening to".  I have to tell myself during this little stride in the Bible that it is important or God would not have it in here.  Probably to help us understand that God is helping to build a culture for a people that had everything they had known vanish in very short time (including Pharoh).

God is setting up a culture for the people to put God at the center of their lives.

New Testament
This week we have read through the last hours of Jesus' life through the eyes of a sinning tax collector who had become His friend.  The maticulous detail that Matthew provides conjurs up images from The Passion of the Christ movie in my head.

The story that sticks out in my reading this time is the story of Peter following at a distance.  During a men's retreat with Lake Forest Church last year Kyle Wallace talked about how he seemed to follow Jesus at a distance in his life.  Only when he engaged on what God had put before him did God's promise seem to be fulfilled.  Becoming God's co-worker in His Mission provides purpose, work, and a blessing.

  1. How does culture affect what is at the center of our lives?
  2. In what ways have you allowed Jesus to be at the center of your life?
  3. Do you notice ways that you follow Jesus at a distance in your life?
  4. What is holding you back from engaging with Jesus in those areas?
