This is a Preblast for a 4-6 week running workout on Tuesdays at the track at Bailey Road Park
I have not done any material running since I finished my last leg of the Blue Ridge Relay back in September. Now that it has been over 3 months I can appreciate, and even miss, the benefits of running! At this point, I don't think I could hang with one of the typical running workouts so I have decided to start over from scratch.
For the next 4-6 weeks I will be at the track at BRP at 0530 to begin building up my running stamina and strength. These 45 minute workouts will be focused on a good warm-up, interval running (i.e. running for a set amount of time alternating with walking for a set amount of time), and ample time to stretch after running. The ultimate goal of the 4-6 weeks will be to build up enough to comfortably join one of the normal running workouts like Half-Life or Titan.
Have you decided to get running this year but don't know where to start? Has it been a long time since you have run more than a few tenths of a mile at a time? Do you want to tackle CSAUPs like the Polar Bear but are nervous about the mileage? Are you on IR and need to slowly build some strength? Then this temporary workout might be the best first step for you!!
Let me be upfront and clear – I am not a running coach and really don't know what I am doing. But if we work together, take it slow and stretch properly I am confident we can all improve safely.
Hope to see you on Tuesday
