AO

11 men decided today that they will challenge themselves and not succumb to the temptress of the fartsack.

The gloom was especially gloomy this morning with the full moon low in the sky and fog sitting low on the ground.  The scene was almost like an omega-horror film setting.  The fog was so thick, it was stated that the headlamps did more harm than good.  This is where F3 thrives, so we got after it once our latest pax, like the lone star left alive at the end of the horror film, showed up. I’ve only been to Java a handful of times and within those visits have experienced a few differing types of workouts.  Java has been anything from a straight run where a route is determined beforehand and all the pax make their way at their own pace, to a consistent-pax pace peppered with pain every quarter mile or so.  I enjoy variety (the spice of life), so here’s what happened when I was in charge…

Warmorama run for about 0.15 miles to the greenway entrance.

SSH x15ic

Windmill x15ic

We looked out over the greenway and pond to see a thick fog with limited visibility made more eerie by a bright moon and dimly-lit lamp posts.  Sounds too creepy to leave behind, so we didn’t stray far.  Running into the morbid scenary, we ran by the pond to the other side and ran up a hill that was a bit of a tuffy climb.  Because of that, and so no one would throw a ram rod with all the effort, we stopped near the top for a 1-5 count and Mountain Climbers x15ic.

Then, all of a sudden, I realized I had forgotten something back at the movie theater.  “Osh Kosh, B’Gosh!” We have to go back through the soupy mess of fog and back up the hill!  There we had another 1-5 count and Plank Jacks x15ic.  After already braving through the scary scene a couple times, we were ready to go back to our original hill, avoiding any thugs that may be leering in the darkness along the way.  At the top, we counted down from 1-5 and did Peter Parker x15ic.

By this time, the pax were sensing a pattern and already guessed that we were headed back to the movie theater.  The gloomy scene was beginning to get more inviting.  I’m pretty sure it was the airstream from the fast-moving herd that the fog was getting blown into a whirlwind and beginning to dissipate.

Now we were getting comfortable with our surroundings and a little complacent with feeling safe.  A dog walker emerged from the darkness like an outlaw looking for trouble.  There is no trouble to be found here except tackling these hills and knocking out 15 reps of exercises.

By the time it was all said and done, we ended up running the horseshoe-esk route 4 times and doing 15 reps of exercises in cadence at the top of each hill.  The total mileage was about 3.25 miles and we burned the caloric equivalent of 3 large strobili dinners.
