Copperhead is leading his Second Annual Promathon in conjunction with Southlake Academy. It will be 10 pax from Southlake that will run from Lake Forest Church to Pleasant Grove Farm. They each have a goal to raise $500. There are more details from Copperhead below, but there are two areas of support needed from the Isotope Pax.
- volunteer to keep the route/path safe and support the runners
- donate to a good cause — Muscular Distrophy Association
Read it in Copperhead’s own words below. As well as the attached presentation on the endeaver: Second Annual Promathon
The run will begin at 9:00am on Saturday April 26 and the cutoff time will be 2:30pm (it will all be over no later than 3:00).
We officially have our list of ten runners including my partner Scott and I (who are also hosting and coordinating the event simultaneously)
I would like to be one deep on volunteers meaning we would need 10 F3 volunteers. The job of these guys would be to go out on the route and patrol to assure that all is well and safe and no man is left behind.
Some will be sent out as what I would call “Sweeps” and they will follow up the runners with a gap and will likely be the first to encounter any on trail issues as they will follow up the runners and “sweep up” any who may fall behind or require assistance.
The remaining volunteers will likely be safety escorts that start from the aid stations at the end of their sections and run backwards through their route until they intercept the runners and run alongside them through tricky sections (timing and location of interception will be planned strategically).
These are the two primary jobs and the volunteers will be equipped with the necessary safety and medical equipment (ex. walkie, first aid kit).
Despite the fact that they can act as first aid in an emergency they will NOT be responsible or liable for their ability to apply first aid. The runners will all have signed a waiver acknowledging that these are not medical personnel and are therefore not responsible for any medical treatment but can choose to apply first aid if they are able. The volunteers are there to make the run a little safer but are in NO WAY liable or responsible for the total safety of any of the runners. The runners will all have agreed to this via wavier.
Details regarding the run itself can be found via this information slideshow presentation and a signup can be found on the last slide.
