My friend Jolly Roger kindly offered YHC the role of "1st F Q" for the Isotope sub-region on 26-Jan-2018. YHC gladly accepted, though admittedly at the time wasn't entirely sure what the role entailed!
Working with Jolly and Bagboy over the past several months, I have tried to clarify what the role entails. What follows is a list of things I have focused on as 1st F Q. There is room for debate and improvement, of course; but all of that is made easier by the simple act of writing it down on paper (er, on this website).
YHC has already identified a successor for 1st F Q, with blessing from Bagboy, but that is a topic for another time. Below are the things I've focused on in 2018:
- Encouraging quality and diverse workouts, via communications with MQs and PAX.
- Ensuring MQ handovers are announced and understood. Additionally I've attempted to help new MQs by Qing at their AO to the extent possible (I wasn't able to hit all the AOs as Q…still trying though)
- Ensuring convergences are announced and understood, ideally as far out as possible.
- Providing the opportunity for Q Schools.
- Providing useful materials to MQs, including: Podcasts, Q School Docs, FNG Docs, Videos, etc.
- Encouraging backblasts. (And, commenting on a LOT of them)
- Encouraging proper disclaimers.
- Encouraging high attendance at VQs.
Please note:
- Feedback welcome.
- I'll be the first to admit: I wish I'd visited more of the AOs, and more often. Sometimes running training got in the way of doing that, sadly.
- Other "sub-region 1st F Qs" can steal any of the text above, and happy to share materials mentioned.
- I've enjoyed the role tremendously! But there is another PAX waiting who shall take this to the next level in 2019…
