…no, everyone is ok. But that ^ was the best analogy I could come up with to describe a baseline 10k pace. You had to be there.
So the plan ™️ today called for 4 sets of 1,200s at slightly quicker than 10k pace. We started with a nearly 1 mile mosey to Bradley Middle School and back, then began. Our stated goal was to get slightly faster on each 1,200, and to make the 3rd lap faster than the first each time. Check, and check. Recovery was a slow 400 between each set. We ended with a cool down of nearly 1 mile and some stretching.
Moleskin:
- Prayers for Blackbeard and AM-PM’s Dad.
- Chilly Willy and Stray are going to crush their respective Marathons this fall, and I feel lucky just to be along for the ride.
- Stray commented that we weren’t really gaining on Cherry Bomb during our 1,200s even when CB was on his recovery lap. Indeed when you check Cherry Bomb’s Strava, that math checks out.
- Pax if you happen to read this, maybe you’ll be moved to grab a Q for Stray. It’s semi awkward for an MQ to have to commandeer an AO for Marathon Training, but the plan gets what the plan needs. But if you Q, you’ll get to reap the rewards of said well executed plan. Just Q, ok?
Solid work today gents.
Turnpike
Many thanks on the lead this morning Turnpike. We ran through two separate monsoons today. That has to get us better for sure.
You’re a better HIM than me. I got up looked out the window and at the radar and ran back to bed like that little baby running down the hallway gif.
