Stormchasing the Easter Thunder Vortex at the CandyShop

8 pax met in the gloom to chase away the Easter thunder vortex eager to wreak havoc on an otherwise Good Friday.

Various pax ran variable standards.  Little Finger, Popcorn, perhaps Cherry Bomb?

Here is what transpired before the coffee hit the table:

0515:  Cherry Bomb’s anal-retentive nature takes over and he takes off because it is 0530.

0516:  Pax understands the route and we take off.

5.25 mile and 6 mile options at 9 minute or 8:45 pace.  Pax chose the 5.25 at 9.

Moleskin:

  • YHC sent a mapmyrun to a few pax so they’d know it.  None looked at it.  I tried to explain, but once Little Finger said “so hit the cock and balls, got it” I knew it was all down hill from here but we’d have a good time.  And we did.
  • The Count remains the local legend of the “cock” Segment on Strava.  He can’t figure out why no one else registers a turn on the segment when we run by.  Little does he know it is built for just one of the lanes and we purposely ran inside, then outside so as to only count as one time on the segment.
  • Tclaps to the fast pax for circling back to keep me with the group.  Truly unselfish run for you guys, and I am the beneficiary of it.
  • Oddly enough the same pax never wanted to run all the way back to pick up The Count when he fell behind due to a #codebrown.
  • Tclaps to LittleFinger for running a pre- and post-Standard to total 12.5 miles
  • No Enron today, but the mumble still chattered with ease.  Who has dogs.  Renting city bikes.  Do we turn here or keep going straight.  And the hot button trendy topic on the evolution of travel accessibility to National Parks (and the Berlin Wall).
  • 18 pair of shoes donated from this pax.  The Cauldron pax got us over 3o at coffeeteria.  More to come from Odyssey and 4Banger.  Give it away and live third.  That’s how we role and that’s how our community thrives.
  • What I learned today:  There is a reason this is all based around 3 Fs.  And that reason isn’t alliteration.  That is just a coincidence.   When mens’ cups run over with the benefits from exercise, comraderie, and a sense in greater purpose, they just naturally pour themselves in to something or someone else.  Selfishness washes away and compassion (consciously and unconsciously) flows.  Instead of a vase that holds water they become pitchers that take in and pour back out.   That was evidenced by all the Isotope pax today.  Even the Laketopians and Birktopians 🙂    Think of what you were part of today.  1) we will donate over 50 pair of shoes to people in need.  And you did it not from a well organized campaign but just a simple tweet that other people picked up on and we spread.  2) you slowed down, lent a hand, or otherwise sacrificed a little extra from your workout to help or encourage someone else.  3) you had a conversation with a peer about a life topic that they needed to chew on, or just said an encouraging statement to them.    HERE IS THE POINT:  you didn’t do much….you did some small tasks….that didn’t ask a whole heck of a lot out of you.  But you made an enormously huge impact on me, the pax next to you, the unknown recipient of your shoes, the person making your coffee, your family.   That impact will ripple 2, 3, 4, infinite levels to create a tidal wave of Goodness throughout the earth on this GOOD FRIDAY.  So be like you, just be you.  You are enough and you are making an impact.
  • God bless you, and Happy Easter.
