4 Men and and VQ showed on the hallowed grounds @ Hope Park in Race City to test their mettle and become Legends. In the cold @ 04:30 ManHands and I Rucked a few miles, ManHands mostly talked (big shocker) and I was deep in thought about my Virgin Q. So here's the skinny:
Warm a Rama:
IC
SSH X 20
IST X 20
Cottom Pickers X 15
Merkins X 15
The Thang:
Mosey over to the soccer fields grabbed some sand bags lined up sandbags at feet. Since I pre-blasted some footy (aka soccer) skills would be incorporated, I started with footwork. 3 rounds each time PAX had to hop over the sand bag, side to side, front to back. Pick up the sand bag and lunge approx. 25 yards drop the sand bag repeato back to the line. 2nd round same footwork this time pick the sand bag up and toss it and bear crawl to the bag, repeato footwork drill, and return to the line. Approx. 25 yards. 3rd round, repeato footwork drill, farmers carry to the goal (approx. 50 yards) repeato footwork, return to the line.
Mixed in between the footwork drills PAX had to complete IC 20 sandbag curls and 20 overhead press. 60 reps total.
Lo' and Behold out of the gloom we saw a Chief lumbering up to join us and participate in the VQ. Glad he could join us and support the stuff of Legends.
Now to the nitty gritty: Circle of Legends.
Now that the PAX had done some footwork and arms it was time to work on what makes a soccer player a Legend. Dribbling. PAX got in a circle, the goal was for each to call out a workout and dribble the ball in a weave pattern in the circle and call out cadence for the non-dribblers to perform. Hard to remember the exact list, but I think there were some I had never done before, but as whole I was impressed with the dribbling skills. We performed that for 3 Rounds, right foot only, left foot only, and both feet finally.
Finally a friendly game of 1 v 1 with Chief and ManHands going head to head, while the PAX planked, ManHands saved the PAX by scoring the only goal.
Mosey back to the parking lot for a little Mary led by Cupcake, and an interesting lesson on cocunut oil and it's many non-cooking applications.
The Mumblechatter was lively amongst the PAX through out the workout, often challenging the estrogen count on the footy workout. Finger Lickin Good even brought me back to earth by making me repeato my dribbling portion because I forgot to call out cadence. It was a fun balance of macho and culture and I'm proud to have 'popped my Q cherry' with a fine bunch of men this morning. A little sore but pain is temporary, Legends are forever.
Thoughts and Prayers went out to Santiago and his M and FLG's friend Willie. As always, to the troops DR and home we thank you for your service. Until next time.
