Sunday Foresome

Event Date

Much talk has gone around to get a golf outing together.  Plenty of SC's, SHC's, and finally 4 HC's.

YHC picks up Spork which surprinsingly is his very first Jeep ride, and Zippy and Mulligan clown car it to meet us on the East side at Birkdale.

Lucky golfers get to live long enough to sometimes attempt shooting below their age…our goal was to shoot beneath the temperature.

Spork and YHC get started putting some work in the range then Zippy and Mulligan arrive in style at least looking the part.  YHC has to confer multilple times that yes, indeed he plays left handed.  He goes with his standard, "This game is too easy right handed."

The practice green was getting watered and noone else seemed to be out so off to the first tee we go.

The combination of playing a round on the sun, in addition to what seemed like 10 million volts floating above made for an intersting opening hole.  Mulligan quickly shows why he has a golf related nickname…that swing is as smooth as honey.  Oh wait, Zippy already lost a club or club head cover so let's wait on him.  Then Spork, who last swung a club  ten years ago is the only one in the middle of the fairway.

Holes go by, pars, bogies, and a birdie appear, and the fellowship seems to be winning over the heat.

HALFTIME

We take a trip inside for refreshements and learn about birthdays ("Oh yeah!"), rugby players are crazy, and domestic versus non (well maybe we left more confused on that one).

We then take on the back nine and now find where the water hazards are.

The heat seemed to take over and we all probably would have been happy with 13 holes.  More pars and bogies, no birdies:-( and we make it to the finishing hole.  Spork learns two very important lessons on the course…never hit your ball off the bridge, and ALWAYS,  ALWAYS stay behind the ball.  Mully took what hair was left on the top of his head off with what we'll call a long distance bump and run.

MUMBLECHATTER

-Zippy is a really good teacher.  I'm sure the lessons were free of charge, but boy did they take when applied.

-Mully plays a strong game and is really never in trouble.  Fun to watch someone ball strike like that.

-Spork plays like a pro from the start…new ball and tee on every hole right?  He still somehow ended up +20 on golf balls with all the finds he had.

-The PAX were intrigued on YHCs distance off the tee, yet never once questioned his equipment?  There's a reason they only sell the Hammer on late night infomercials…pow, pow, POW!!!

-Fun was had by all and twas a joy to hang outside the 1st F arena for some hours alongside my brothers.  Missed you that couldn't join us, but hopefully can the next time around.
