Reflection:
Watched the movie Collateral Beauty with Will Smith this week in the back of the plane. Great movie with some moving scenes. Made me think of being more purposeful looking for the essence of suffering and what comes out of it, as well as how others around us are also carrying their own crosses. Opportunity to not only show leadership in this crisis but also flex our faith. Recommended you check it out.
Moleskin:
-Anvil continues to push it out on his rebuilt knee and was a trooper nursing a back tweak after squatting 250lbs. Dude is the most in shape 50+ stud I have seen even after 20 years in the Navy.
-Shredder continues to rock it on the biggest mountain bike I have seen.
-Dandelion- always good for some humor and attempting to create confusing chaos.
-Retread joined us and had some great perspective during our coffee about placing trust in God for ALL areas of our lives, the ones that are easy to hand over control and the not so easy ones.
-Thanks guys for being good sports with the lengthy block runs!
Family Quarantine Ideas: Here are some things we did this week to try out if you like-
-Family zoom pizza party. We have family spread across multiple states. We drew names for each family and then found a pizza place that delivered near each person and coordinated a time for a pizza party via Zoom. Good fun and nice to see what everyone got as well as appreciated to get something unexpected.
-We just started watching some Amazing Race on tv, yes it only took us 15 years to find it, about average for us and trends. Anyways kids loved it so I created our own family race within SVU complete with envelopes and challenges. Here was the basics:
2 teams with siblings.
Start out on front step with Amazing Race music and I came out and told them first clue was in mailbox. First clue had them run to clubhouse, at clubhouse had to find envelope with Detour: count how many boatslips there were (96) and they had to report back to me. Took them about 3 tries. Handed them next envelope which said go to back deck at house. There I had 2 16’ deck boards out with the next challenge stapled to the board: Carry the 16’ board through woods to playground and push it down slide and come back. When they retuned handed them next challenge: one person chooses to either crab walk around house or make a paper airplane and fly it around the house. When they finished, they had to find the next clue in the backyard which told them to take a lap around the nature trail and meet at the pit stop on the front porch.
Overall great fun and easy to set up. Oldest said it was the best thing she has done in quarantine which is saying something! Let me know if you need more info or details.
