As I sat there at a table for 6 gazing at the door wondering if this would be the day that taco Tuesday was a solo post, and the fact that Blackbeard said no ruck no tacos and I did ruck this morning I was going to have my tacos by myself…..but wait as the clock hit 12 Turncoat; who I am pretty sure has not missed a Taco Tuesday; comes thru the door. Quickly followed but Roadie, Mayhem (as he was flying by the city on his way to his next audit from somewhere down south of town) and Moby Dick. So if you are counting that is 5, and as we sat there Gnarly Goat come walking in from the other side of Vida smelling of free chips and salsa that he had partaken of as he sat waiting for other to join him as he unknowingly sat on the wrong side of the building. Then Moby informed us that Magnus was on his way, and he got there right as ordering had started so he was right on time! PS. I have not missed a taco Tuesday and it shows!
About half of the Taco Tuesday crowd had already been to Vida Vida before and branched out on their taco choices to try some new flavors. Since there are no 2$ tacos at Vida Vida, I (SweetC) ordered the fried chicken, ground beef and BLT tacos with a side of chip and salsa (not free like the goats!). I have had many other tacos here, the Philly cheesesteak, the buffalo chicken, pork carnitas, shrimp, and many tacos of the month. This month taco is crawfish etouffee. The service was a little slow today compared to other times I had been there and I had been there with a group of 6 before but usually it is only 2 or 3 so not sure if the size of the group impacted us getting tacos. But that is really the only thing I can say bad about this place. I have not found a taco (the fried Chicken) that is now ranked #2 on my Taco Tuesday list. These taco are hardy, full of all kinds of flavor and good stuff. With tip I was in for 15 bucks since there were no 2 dollar options, but this was money well spent as all of these were good tacos.
My score for Vida Vida is 8 out of 10.
Here are my favorite tacos so far: Shrimp at 204, fried chicken and Vida Vida, Beef at the local
Lots of different discussion today about riding the bus, shutting down bailey road park on Saturdays, or making it a once a month deal like the murph or vern., or even making it a kettle bell workout since there is not one on the weekends. Mayhem got caught up on what all of us uptowners do for a living.
As always Taco Tuesday was a hit. As for where we go next time I think we are trying to EH Goat into picking us up and traveling outside of the 5 block square of downtown we frequent.
