#TacoTuesday: The Year to Date

Event Date

Jul 02, 2018

#TacoTuesday started on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 when, a few hours after YHC, Ramrod, and SweetC met for some scrumptious $2 tacos at The Local, Ramrod suddenly circulated a backblast in which he declared that #TacoTuesday "is now a thing."

The rest is history.  #TacoTuesday immediately took off in the uptown, and quickly starfished to Lake Norman area with the help of DonHo, Duvall, Gypsy, and other taco loving pax.  There has even been at least one Mooresville installment of #TacoTuesday.  We know this because the #TacoTuesday faithful have been meticulous about documenting their weekly visits.

As we approach the 5 month anniversary of the inaugural #TacoTuesday, YHC wanted to take a moment to survey where and with whom we've been, to this point (as far as YHC can tell, based on the available data and documentation…. please sound off below if I've omitted any pax or taco establishments).

YHC's first reaction is that that's a lot of tacos consumed.  How many have we collectively put down in the past 5 months?  It's hard to say, but YHC would guess that we are solidly in four digit territory at this point.

Who is wearing the #TacoTuesday championship belt?  Unless someone tells YHC otherwise, and can provide photographic evidence or other sufficient corroboration, it is unquestionably Mona Lisa, who took down 13 tacos at Sabor on May 8, and easily could have kept going had Duvall not waved the white flag after his 10.  Mona Lisa does not mess around in the taco department.  I would be surprised to see another pax wrest the belt away from him anytime soon.

If you're reading this and haven't made it out to a #TacoTuesday, keep an eye out for the #pbs, usually on Tuesday morning, or check the 2nd F channel on Slack.  Or just ask one of the #TacoTuesday Qs listed above (or any of the many other regulars in uptown or Lake Norman).  It's been awesome to see pax meeting other pax for the first time over tacos, meeting pax from other regions at #TacoTuesday convergences (or because they have become #TacoTuesday regulars, a la Wegman's from Fort Mill), and catching up on things that we aren't able to while sucking wind at a beatdown.

Looking forward to many more tacos.  Thanks to Ramrod for making this a thing!

Aye,

TC
