Take me to the Bridge

AO

While on a long weekend in Folly Beach – 4 PAX defied the fartsack and went to meet some of our F3 Charleston brothers for a workout at the AO – The Bridge.  The bridge was the Arthur Ravenal Jr Bridge – formerly the Cooper River Bridge.  We did not run across the bridge – although there were tales of such nonsense from Moses and Hippie.

Skipper wasn’t really the Q – it was Free Willy, but Skipper drove, so he gets the cred.

There were 11 PAX in total – 4 Isotope/MECA, 1 visitor from Spartanburg and 6 posting at their home court.

As the workout started, Free Willy was determined not to give in to the visitors from NC’s witty banter, but we wore him down – and he liked us by the end (we think).

It’s always cool to post on the road.  95% of the workout feels like home – but there’s always something just a little different.  Different exercises, different lexicon, different cadence.  But overall – F3 is pretty consistent, which is part of the amazing gift that we have with this group.

We worked out in a park that led to a pier on the water.  We got in about 1.8 miles.  In addition to running in the park/pier – we finished up the workout with some cinder block exercises prior to Mary.

A few things that we picked up from Free Willy:

  • He was a stickler for the PAX repeating “in cadence” after he gave that direction.  That is, he was a stickler for the first 10 minutes until he relaized neither the visitors or the home PAX were going to comply.
  • He had us do Supermans and Crunchy Frogs on the cider blocks.  That takes things up a notch.
  • He had us do a jailbreak and run about 100 yeards.  Before we started he got the age range of the PAX.  The war daddy was 63, the war baby (Romeo) was 41.  We lined up across the pier’s fence – our starting line.  Romeo had to begin counting backwards from 63 to 41.  When you heard your age called out you started your sprint.  The last one to start was Romeo when he got to 41.  Interesting way to keep the young bucks at bay.  Although – we have quite few “seasoned” runners in Isotope that probably wouldn’t be affected by the delayed start.

The weekend was great and it was cool to have some like minded PAX to help each other with accountability on the road.

I highly recomend posting when you travel.

Peace,
