That’s not what I thought Fartlek meant…

Today was my first time at Fartlek. Why not Q it, right?  I will be back.  Read on to find out why…

Rolling in the parking lot under a lunar eclipse was pretty cool even if I didn’t know it was happening.  Stray stopped straying long enough to tell me then show me.

Doing a little research on fartlek (I’m sure you all know this but I just learned) its Swedish for “speed – play”.  I will never be able to hear the word “quick” without thinking “fart” again.

THANG:

  • Route is 4.5 miles for tortoises and 5 miles for hares.  Run from Winfield Forest Clubhouse across Gilead (Safely of course) to the green way and hang a hard right. Stop at the next street and turn around.  Tortoises run back to the club house, hares run past the club house to the traffic circle and back to club house.
  • Today was brought to you by the letters, R,P, & E.  Rate of perceived exertion.  Meaning level 1 is on the couch doing nothing. Level 10 is all you got and only sustainable for 10-30 seconds.
  • 0 – 0.5 miles 10:00 – 10:30 pace all together for warm up.
  • 0.5 – 1.0 miles RPE 5
  • 1.0 – 1.5 miles RPE 3
  • 1.5 – 2.0 miles RPE 7
  • 2.0 – 2.5 miles RPE 3
  • 2.5 – 3.0 miles RPE 7
  • 3.0 – 3.5 miles RPE 3
  • 3.5 – 4.0 miles RPE 5
  • 4.0 – 5.0 miles RPE 3

Moleskin:

  • Crab Legs & Snake Eyes did the full 5 mile traffic circle route.
  • Mini-Me, Pit Stop, Crocs, Little Finger did a longer route by utilizing the entire greenway and back.
  • The rest of us sauntered through the dimly lit gloom and enjoyed literally miles of 2nd F

Honored to lead this morning and I’m looking forward to my next visit to Fartlek next week.
