The “Virtual” Jungle Bear – April 18th – 19th 2020

Saturday 7:00 AM – Sunday 6:00pm

This is a contest pitting teams against one another.  Try and complete all 12 challenges within a 2 -hour span of time.  If not, no worries.  Good Luck!

Attempt to get 3 miles of total distance along with completing the 12 challenges. Distances greater than 3 miles will receive bonus points.  

 

 

Covid-19 rules apply – small groups of 4 or less and at least 6 ft. social distancing is required.  No sharing of the coupons.  Use gloves and a mask as needed. Any partner exercises or exercises requiring close proximity will need to be modified or skipped entirely.  You can complete as many of these challenges between Saturday and Sunday and at the locations of your choosing they do not need to be completed at the designated locations below.  Reply to the tweet how many you and/or your team completed plus the distance covered if known.  They can be done solo or as a very small group.

Safety is the number goal here so if any below cannot be done safely do not perform it.

                                                                                                                    

Basic Rules

  1. Honor system – NO CHEATING.  
  2. All PAX must complete each task 100% for full credit.  A deduction will be made if not. Remember the honor system!   
  3. No Tasks can be repeated. 
  4. Record the tasks completed.  Points will be rewarded for each completed challenge.
  5. Complete as many tasks as possible in the time allotted any given 2 hour block of time between Saturday and Sunday.
  6. Have fun and feel the pain!

 

Mileage required if not going to the actual locations….

 

Grand Oak Elementary  + 1 mile run

  1. Frog Leap Grand Oak Elementary.

Concrete Ball leap FROG burpees.   Each team member will jump over each giant ball leap frog style and in between each perform a complete Burpee.  Circle back to the start and repeat so that you complete the task 2 total times as a team.  

Can be replaced by Broad Jump Burpees.  20 broad jump burpees in one direction and then repeat back the other direction with another 20

 

  1. Elephant Block O Rama 

Block Webb’s – A Jack Webb using a concrete block – An Incline Merkin then Block Press (on knees) combination with an ascending rep count to 10.  Start by doing one and then repeat but ascending to 2, (2 merkins and then 2 block presses), 3 (3 merkins and then 3 block presses) ….10(10 merkins, 10 block presses).  Can use alternate coupon/kettlebell as needed.

              

 

McCauley Park  + 1 mile run

  1. Jack Rabbit Circle of Pain – Traffic circle at Stumptown and Hugh Torrance creek

Each Pax member will be in the Elbow plank position about 6-7 feet apart.  The person on the end will Broad Jump over each person until he gets to the end.  Then he will Elbow plank before the next guy broad jumps etc. etc.  All the way around the circle. (Chacka lacka choo choo style: when you are last and get jumped over, you can get up and start jumping).  COVID-19 – broad jump outside the circle.  No close proximity of other pax.

Traffic circle is about 100 yards in diameter

 

  1. Troll Bridge Alligator Crossing

In cadence – 20 – 8 count Body Builders – Essentially this is an 8 count Burpee, with a plank-jack added. (1) Squat down, (2) legs out, (3) down part of Merkin, (4) up part of Merkin, (5) out part of plank-jack, (6) in part of plank-jack, (7) feet to hands, and (8) stand up.

Wynfield Traffic Circle + .5 mile run

  1. Crocodile Rocks

In cadence – 20 (40 single) Rock Squats, 20 (40 single) curls, 20 (40 single) Standing presses, 20 (40 single) skull crushers.   Repeato for a total of 2 times

 

  1. Pain Cuckoo Clock –  Traffic Circle at Hugh Torrance and Chaddsley the top of Travolta hill

Start at 12 o’clock on the traffic circle (doesn’t matter what the starting point is).  10 Burpees, run around clock 1-1/4 times (1 complete revolution plus ¼) to 3’ o clock 20 Merkins,  run around clock 1-1/4 times (1 complete revolution plus ¼) to 6 o’clock 30 WWII setups, run around clock 1-1/4 times (1 complete revolution plus ¼) to  9 o’ clock 40 squats,  run around clock 1-1/4 times (1 complete revolution plus ¼) to  12 o’ clock finish with 10 Burpees

Traffic circle is about 100 yards in diameter

Saint Marks + .5 mile run

  1. Copperhead Mountain. 

Quadraphilia (backwards run) up hill.   5 Burpees on top (good form!).  Sprint down the hill touch side walk.  Alternate hills need to be at least 25 yards. 

Repeato for a total of 5 times

 

  1. Bear Crawl 500 – Parking lot Circle in front of church

Start at bottom bear crawl up to the halfway mark (underneath awning)

Lunge walk back to bottom

Total of 50 yards

Repeato for a total of 2 times (100 yards total)

 

  1. Kangaroo – Wall Jump O Rama – Wall next to Parking Lot Circle (regulars will know where this is).

Start at wall – Bear crawl to the curb on the opposite side of the road from the wall do 10 Incline Merkins, sprint to wall and jump up on top, jump back down.   Bear crawl = 10 yards each time.  4’ or higher wall required.

Repeato for a total of 10 times

 

  1. Hippo Tire Flip

Flip tire from the designated cones to the other cones and then back again. Repeato for a total of 2 times up and back.  Tire cannot be rolled; it has to be flipped. 

Alternate for this one would be a Farmers carry of 2 coupons for 100 yards repeato for a total of 4 times.  Down and back 2x

 

  1. Monkey Bar Pull-up O Rama

Descending pull-ups starting at 10, next set is 9 then 8……1

Descending toe touches starting at 10, next set 9 then 8…..1

 

 

  1. Dragon Crawl Merkin Challenge

 

Do 100 yards of dragon crawls with a Merkin every 5 yards, every 3 dragon crawls.  Repeato this for a total of 2 times.
