The August Stop of the Lumberjack Games

Event Date

Aug 28, 2021

YHC sent a PB with a hint of what was planned for the day. Would the heat, Dad’s Camp, or the fear of the logs keep the PAX away? At 6:56, YHC was still solo and thought he may have to make a trip to The Estate as no one had arrived. Then, a Jeep Gladiator appeared with an FNG. It was on. Shortly after Omega and his dogs, as well as Titan and his dog arrived. Game time.

Let the games begin:

The PAX select logs from the log pile and line them up by the top of the parking lot.

The First Event is the Log roll – bear crawl retrieval. The idea is roll your log af far as it will go and then bear crawl to the log furthest away. The alternate was to lunge walk if bear crawls were too strenuous for shoulder injuries. We continued this sequence until we got to the bottom of the parking lot.

The Second Event is the wide grip Deadlift and Curl – grip the outside of the logs to stress your grip. Deadlifts 10 IC; Curls 15 IC.

The Third Event is the Zamperini to the school – Lift the log over your head and carry it to the school (self-explanatory).

The Fourth Event is Merican Balance – Balance on your log with your hands while completing Mericans, Carolina Dry Docks, Staggered Mericans L&R; 10 IC; followed by Mountain Climbers – 20 IC.

The Fifth Event is Log Carry to the wall

The Sixth Event is Wall Work – logs down for Cat Crawl (bear crawl across top of the wall – danger factor high), Spider walk on wall (hands & Feet on wall and walk R & return walking L), Incline Wall Walk (Incline position and walk the wall & back), Decline Wall Walk (decline position walk the wall & back).

The Seventh Event is Log Walk back to the top of the School ramp.

The Eighth Event is the the log pass – PAX line up side by side and pass each log vertically to the next in line. The PAX on either end start with all the logs and drop all the logs, Start and drop; then rotate to the next 2 PAX. All PAX had a chance to start and finish in each position.

The Ninth Event is Zamperini back to the start

The 10th Event is Drop the Logs

That concludes the Lumberjack Games of August

Jorel joined us toward the end after running nine miles. Strong finish and thanks for the coffee.

Michael (FNG) was EH’ed by Landline (not there) as well as Diehard (also not there). He did great and held strong the whole time. He was a wrestler and wore sunglasses the whole workout. Omega and I were thinking of wrestlers and came up with Randy Savage, Macho Man, and then it hit – Slim Jim. Welcome Slim Jim.

Omega showed up in the newly lifted jeep (looking good), and I think the dogs like the higher view as well. Great work today and congrats on completing the second stop of the Lumberjack games.

Titan also showed up with his dog, and he too completed the second stop of the lumberjack games. At one point he decided the log wasn’t enough so he lifted his dog over his head and carried him in a fireman carry style. Strong work brother.

Thanks for joining me today and keeping me from being a sad clown. Until next time.
