It may not be as big of a deal as the transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the People's Republic of China on July 1, 1997 but there will be a ceremonious transfer of leadership at the almost 6 year old Saturday F3 Isotope workout which bears the same name as its area of operation, The Estate.
On Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 0700 hours, in the parking lot of Richard Barry Park, it will be my distinct honor to handover the leadership role, known in F3 parlance as the Master Q (MQ), as well as the original shovel flag of The Estate workout to Paul “Turnpike” Oldakowski, the most prolific Q of 2016 (maybe 2017 as well). While that should be exciting news on its own, it gets better. Joining Turnpike as co-MQ is Josh “Black-Eyed Pea” Luber, the guy who created the Excelsior workout, which precedes The Estate every Saturday morning, as a running w/ pain stations workout designed to “shake off the funk from the week” (in his words).
For those history buffs out there, Turnpike and Black-Eyed Pea follow Professor who received the MQ from Jolly Roger who received it from the original co-MQs of The Estate, Freedom and Snake-Eyes. Additionally, if I am not mistaken, the shovel flag for The Estate was crafted by our resident carpenter, Neil "Sweet Caroline" Joyce.
Please join me this Saturday to welcome the new leadership regime at The Estate. Heck, bring a friend or two!
Humbly submitted to the Pax of Lake Norman,
Professor
