The Pax said this would be an easy backblast to write…


…which probably means the workout wasn't very creative!  Hopefully it was effective though.  Here is, roughly, what went down at East Lincoln High's Mustang workout:

Yesterday: June 2nd, received a text out of the blue from Mater.  Asked if I would Q as he's trying to get a variety of Qs there.  Sure buddy!  I'll be honest, the accountability was needed.  YHC would've slept in were it not for Mater reaching out.

0500:  Solo run standard.  Kept it slow, and checked out the track.  It was wide open, with a few hurdles in lane 6 that we'd deal with later. 

0530:  Instructed the Pax that we'd be sharing the track with the FIA ladies, and to please move over whenever needed.  Then we were off.

WARM-O-RAMA:

  • Mosey to the track, lap around the track with some high knees, butt kickers, exaggerated long striders (Overheard:  I thought he said sliders!), and side shuffle L / R.
  • Disclaimer given.
  • SSH x 15 IC
  • Dwight Schrutes, er…that drew confused looks so…Soybean Farmers…damnit…ok they are cotton pickers x 15 IC
  • IST x 15 IC
  • Slow deep squats x 15 IC
  • Mericans x 10 IC.  HOLD for:
  • Mountain Climbers x 15 IC.  HOLD for:
  • Elbow plank x 30 seconds

The Thing:

  • Run up the stadium steps, slow deep squats at the top x 25 OYO, run down, Burpees with 180 degree turn on the jump (forces a good, honest jump) x 10 OYO
  • It should be noted the Pax were expecting a repeato without prompting.  YHC found that impressive.  There would typically be more…uh…complaining at some Huntersville AOs.
  • Repeato but with 20 slow deep squats and 8 Burpees
  • Repeat with 15 and 6, then 10 and 4, then 5 and 2
  • Hold the "Al Gore" while waiting…ok its a "Tree Hugger"

An Ab medley to catch our breath:

  • Elbow plank x 1 minute
  • Low flutters x 25 IC
  • LBC x 25 IC

Run a lap at a slightly uncomfortable pace (mile race pace).  Note your time to try to beat it later.

Run a cool down lap at a slower pace.  Oh sorry, make that backwards.  (Watch out for the hurdles!)  Audible, to about 1/2 of a lap to the other bleachers.

Leg medley:

  • Slow deep squats x 15 IC
  • Step ups x 15 each leg OYO
  • Jump ups x 15 OYO
  • Lunge walk about 1/4 of a lap

Mosey for about 1/4 of a lap then run a lap at a very uncomfortable pace (think 800 meter race pace).  Try to beat your time from earlier.  Mosey to Start-ex for some Mary.

Mary:

  • Shoulder touch (tap) Mericans x 15 IC
  • Low Dolly x 15 IC
  • Crunchy frog x 12 IC
  • LBC x 12 IC
  • Elbow plank until time, which was definetly less than 1 minute.

Recover, recover.  We covered 1.60 miles according to Strava.

Reflection:

Please reach out to someone you haven't chatted with in a while.  Check in and see how they're doing.  These are difficult times.  These are weird times.  Be there for someone.  Aye.

Moleskin:

  • There were comments that some have an advantage during planks because of a kickstand.  Lol.
  • There was a sad clown runner that Mater and others attempted to EH multiple times.  Pax were still chatting with him at YHC was driving away.  Sound off below, will we see him again?
  • Lot of younger Pax crushing the workout.  But my man Sparrow, a young 74, crushed it as well!
  • FNG-1 = Shaker, not found on website.  Once on website, YHC will add to the backblast.  Update:  Added after the fact.
