The SHARKNADO – Different Location, Still Awful!!

A Long, Long time ago…  At an AO Far, Far way…

Well, not that far away, but still.  The Sharknado has been in hiding since last February when it was woefully banished from Middle Earth by people who hate fitness.  There have been some sightings, but no place that The Sharknado could call "home".  Well that all changed on Friday, December 1, 2017.  Bookmark the date folks, because that's the day The Sharknado officially moved to The Foundry and Lake Forest Church.  The recent parking lot renovation destroyed what would have been a great spot for it (the old front loop) but created another (around one of the long parking islands).  So recon was done and we tried it out.

22 Pax (including one second-post FNG) came out to celebrate.  And celebrate they did.  Some made it look easy, others were proven that their fitness needs The Sharknado, some rucked it, and others just decided that running was enough.  All walked away from The Foundry better than they entered.

I gave some initial instruction for those who were new to the workout (and those who forgot) and away we went.

Mosey to the last long parking island.

Sharknado!! (all exercises are single count)

  • 15 burpees
  • Run around parking island (approx 0.15 miles)
  • 20 diamond merkins
  • Run around parking island
  • 20 WWII sit-ups
  • Run around parking island
  • 20 merkins
  • Run around parking island
  • 20 scorpion dry-docks
  • Run around parking island
  • DO ENTIRE CYCLE 5 TIMES

Total of 75 burpees, 100 diamond merkins, 100 WWII sit-ups, 100 merkins, 100 scorpion dry-docks, and 4(ish) miles of running.

Mosey back to starting point for COT

Burnt Moleskin:

  • My recon was close, but not perfect.  The long parking island we ran around was "about" 0.15 miles, but not exactly.  Don Ho got about 3.5 miles of running, but did not include the mosey back to COT (which is a part of the 4 miles).  So we need another 0.01 miles or so, and we will find it for next time!
  • Some actually rucked this thing!  Turnpike and Ramrod (and please let me know if I forgot anyone else who did) went pure Beast Mode and said, "That's too easy, let's put a ruck on and do it."  Awesome Job!
  • Calypso was sticking to "The Plan" for his run training and skipped ALL exercises.  He can be found still running in circles in the LFC parking lot.
  • There were a lot of people thanking me for bringing this back.  They didn't say "thank you" exactly, but they said words directed towards me that defintely had "you" in it.  I assume they meant to say "thank you" though and you are all welcome!!
  • Turnpike called BS on the workout the day before.  Possibly a record.
  • Amazing job by all who came out this morning!  Great job by all who finished and all who pushed to the end of the alotted time to get as far as possible.  Definitely inspiring.
  • We had a second post FNG who we named Beacon.  He is one of the Pastors at LFC and Bam Bam was checking out his arms one day and decided to invite him to F3 (yes, you read that correctly).  Needless to say that if Bam Bam saw me in street clothes that I would NOT be invited to F3 per my physique…  So a huge welcome to Beacon!!
  • Blackbeard was not there…
  • Happy and Humbled to be a part of such a great group of Men.
