The week of stray pretty much sums up the Isotope spirit.
- Isotope grew to NoCo to LKN and is now going back to Isotope (#cobains to the imagineers of #Laketope), to its roots, steeped in tradition. A uniquely Isotope tradition is a “week of”. Made famous by our Pirate contingency (hat tip Jolly Roger and Blackbeard) others would grab the opportunity (if memory serves me, Frontier, Scrappy, Olive, and didn’t Mona Lisa do a month). And of course the greatest of all Isotope traditions…..the patch!
- Isotope grew though pax accountability. From the EH, to the CSAUP, to region challenges, to the innovative ways of keeping pax together. Most recent example is 9Lives challenge for all pax to post 100 and Q 12, of which I am getting 42% of my Qs this week. So grab a partner, or bring your #shieldlock, and hold each other accountable to posting 5 days this week.
- Lastly, we encourage, we lead, and we honor each other. The series of workouts designed this week will do just that. Each workout is designed optimally for every pax. Training for Iron Pax challenge, recovering from surgery, double hate, double respect, pain cave dweller or got a lot of quit in you. All are taken in to account. And all will become better through it. Every workout has an element of 1st F (naturally), but also 2ndF and 3rdF designed within.
So I invite you to get out of your comfort zone, all too often that leads to being in a rut. A small change can spark something great (see butterfly effect workout on Tuesday for more). Break down your bias….seriously….come see how you can be challenged, expand yourself, and #straythecourse.
- Monday: Berean — “Spilt Milk”. Standard bootcamp designed for all. Throughout the workout we will grow as a pax. We all cry over spilt milk, but it is not a trait we desire nor a trait our family and community needs. How do you recognize it, how do you avoid it, how do you help your brother through it.
- Tuesday: FKT — “The Butterfly Effect”. Why would I post there Stray, FKT is the fast running strong elite athlete pax. Nonsense, shed your bias and #DBAP. FKT may have come from that pax wanting to continually push themselves (as they should), but Don Ho has always been clear it is still for everyone. If only top fitness level pax post then that group really gets after it. But they do run WIBs where all levels can expand their capability….ie everyone gets after it. That is what I have designed here. YHC may spew merlot, but so can Nantan and Kosar with this WIB. Or….none can. The WIB is designed in a butterfly shape. But at the same time our leadership development theme within will focus on the “butterfly effect” — a small change can have a huge knock on effect — a butterfly flapping its wings today can cause a tornado two weeks from now.
- Wednesday: Ludicrous Speed — trackwork. This is the workout that got me back out there after 3 years off (except for walking/rucking with my #shieldlock) due to lung issues. Open to all pax….you are never more than half a lap away. Come get a good workout in, with no shame, and learn how to overcome the desire to call off the workout at 0531 to get coffee.
- Thursday: Sampson — “The Bucket List”. Another WIB where anything can happen. Is there anything more stray than a workout where no one does the same thing but everyone ends up at the same result? #S2K
- Friday: Odyssey — “an epic journey”. Okay not as special as it sounds. I mean it is a run after all. But there will be a 4, a 5, and a 6 mile route posted so all pax are welcome and challenged.
- Saturday: post at any AO you like. YHC doesn’t post on Saturday as that morning is dedicate to time with the M. So post wherever you want. I encourage you to check out #TheBridge at Blythe Elementary and keep up the momentum from last week’s Anniversary. But the Week Of Stray element is this — do something special for someone. A gift, spend time with someone, offer a compliment to someone, inspire someone. Stretch yourself in this. It is the culmination of all the workouts……. Get out of your comfort zone; recognize even a small act will generate a tremendous result; do it for someone else and give it away. Post about it on twitter with the hashtag #straythecourse and that will be our #F3Counts.
If you can’t post to the workouts because you are Qing elsewhere, down range, or Black Eye Pea who has boycotted my Q for 10 years, that is fine. But please please please participate in Saturday and do something to give it away.
Aye,
Stray
