Therapy in The Wilderness (Following the Half last week)

Event Date

Dec 13, 2018

It was 32 degrees and thus the sidewalks and streets were icy.  But that didn't deter 5 men from joining YHC for some much needed therapy after running my first Half Marathon on Saturday.  My knee and my mind both failed me on Travolta Hill (on the way down) at the 7.5 mile mark Saturday, thus YHC felt I had to return today for my first run since.  We stopped for rocks at the weight room on our way to the traffic circle atop Travolta Hill.  We did a short warmorama there, then quickly dropped into Monkey Humpers as YHC's M drove by on her way to FiA.  Then the thang happened…

We'd lift rocks – generally 2-3 exercises, put the rocks down, then some of the pax supported me in my therapy run down then up Travolta Hill.  Then rocks again.  Those who did not take on the hill (Tweetsie nursing a calf injury from the Half so Blackbeard and Toxic took turns helping Tweetsie with their own therapy (no idea what went on while we were away)).

So all sorts of lifting, groaning and complaining.  2.5 trips around the ginormous island of Travolta Hill, then down to Queens Corner, some obvious stuff there, a sprint up the hill then mosey down, then we all returned to the launch point for about 4 minutes of Mary.

Moleskine:

While on our backs doing LBCs, a driver-by stopped and stated he thought we all might need CPR.  This this time…  but eventually someday…

Thanks to these men for their never ending encouragement.  I just ran a half marathon.  Yep, me – Mister 0.0.  I'd have never considered it and certainly never completed it without F3Nation.  And when I do it under 2 hours next time – that'll be because of F3Nation as well!
