…of a new era of Dragonslayer at a new location!! 

After months of conversations and feedback from the pax YHC finally made the choice to move the AO from Grace Covenant Church to Huntersville Athletic Park!!  Much better location, with many more options, and a great bridge for the North Charlotte/Mecca guys to potentially join.

I woke up and saw it rained and knew that might have scared off a few people, but that didn’t stop 6 pax from showing up to get a tour of the new AO and see everything it has to offer.  

Cue the music and lets do this!  (Playlist included Linkin Parks greatest hits from which backblast title got its inspiration)

Tour Stop #1

1 lap around fields (each lap measures exactly .22 miles)

Warm-Up

  • 20 SSH In cadence
  • 20 Mericans in cadence
  • 20 Hillbillies in cadence
  • 20 shoulder plank touches in cadence
  • 20 slippery dip cans (slow count for last five)
  • 20 squats (slow count for last five, hold for ten seconds, pulse it out for ten seconds)

Tour Stop #2

  • Up and down Verhoeff Drive in front of HAP (measures exactly .68 miles out and back from exercise equipment)
    • Great for hill workouts.  Several options right around the area should someone want to lead a more running focused workout

Tour Stop #3

The exercise stations there are probably the biggest reason why this AO is so alluring.

  • Tabata circuit for 18 minutes (45 seconds on, 10 second rest)
  • Pax would switch exercise and would have time to go through each exercise twice (there are around 17 stations that could be used there in some fashion, we used about 10 of them 
    • Ladder/pull-ups
    • Australian Pull-up
    • Battle Ropes
    • Dips
    • Straddle pull-ups
    • 20 lb medicine ball throw to target (mod to ball slams if needed)
    • Rope climb (optional)
    • Decline Push-ups with ropes
    • Box-jumps/Step-Ups
    • Sit-ups
    • Kettlebells (curls, squats, lawnmowers, etc…)

Mary

  • Finish with YHC favorite ab workout (1.5 minutes of plank alternating left and right side last 60 seconds

COT

  • Continue to lift up Pax mothers who are experiencing health issues
