Seven men ventured into the cool 55 degree gloom to earn their caffeine but taking in a 5K with pain stations around Birkdale.
I think I was the first one pulling in at 5:25 am so was wondering if it was going to be a really small crowd. But no fear a few more pulled in right after me. Now of course, you know Lonestar came in at 5:31, right on time. But he wasn’t alone, Omega was right there with him!
We ventured to Fleet Feet for some warm up. SSH, Longsnappers, Imperial Storm Troopers, slow windmills. Oh yeah, I gave a very detailed and thorough disclaimer…..
First segment we ran on the greenway behind the theater and just past the pond for our 1st pain station with merkins and LBCs. Surprised the pax by running right back to our warm up area for our 2nd pain station after completing our 1st mile. Wide merkins and Rosalitas.
Next just did a kind of roundabout mosey around the streets of Birkdale and not telling the pax where we were going…… so they had to run at my pace :o) Stopped back at the warm up area for diamond merkins and Johnny mercury.
For our next segment we ventured over in front of the theater and past it to the greenway entrance there (and gave Hippie the chills of our encounter with the Karin of Birkdale). No fear, we kept moving and circled back on the greenway behind the theater, this time going past the warm up area and stopped in front of the theater. Back for good ol merkins and LBCs.
Last segment down Birkdale to 73 and back and looped back around to Home Base.
We finished with 4 minutes to spare! Fast group today. So we spent the last few minutes on some stretchy stretch.
Moleskin: Basically we finished with 100 merkins and about 200 ab exercises.
Thanks to those that came out for the changing of the guard with Lonestar taking over the Master Q duties. We did at least have one prior Master Q there. Moby Dick made sure he gave the history of Java.
Fast crew with everyone running under a 9 minute pace!
We had some additions at Coffee with Airstream and Soprano. Even Axle finally showed up!
Now be sure to support Lonestar going forward and signing up to Q at Java!!
