Tug-O-War

15 of the finest PAX circled up to begin their weekend battling one another and themselves, this fine crisp, cool, winter morning. Five HIM began 1 1/2 hours earlier, with a ruck of the gauntlet (4 miles), including the infamous Comet, welcome to Mustang, can't wait to learn more about Race (mattress) City…wait, that comes a little later.

Warm o rama:

20 IC SSH

10 IC Cotton Pickers

10 IC Storm Troopers

The Thang:

Grab a jump rope and count of by 1s & 2s, which seemed somewhat complicated for some (many), then head to practice field.

1s line up on 20yd line and face the 30 while 2s line up on the 30yd line and face the 1s. In between the two groups of HIM laid a hose (well many, but only one with true length and girth) a 30 foot firehose.

Here is how it goes:

  • Tug-o-war
    • following battle, ALL do 40 jump ropes
    • winners from battle then do 20 reps of Q's call (squats, LBCs, flutter kicks, low dolly)
    • losers from battle then do 20 merkins
  • Rinse/repeat for 3 rounds
  • Everyone line up on 20 yd line and lunge walk 30yds, then why not, 30yds back
  • Change teams and repeat the above tug-o-war routine

Take a break from the fun and head (mosey) to lower practice field

  • partner up and do the following
  • Partner 1 takes jump rope and loops it through a block, then head down and back the 100 yard field (200yd total), while
  • Partner 2 does burpees while P1 is headed out, and then merkins as they are returning
  • Flapjack
  • Repeato

Take a break from the block (field aeration) and mosey back to the tug-o-war field

  • a few more battles, sans a few injured PAX
  • Line up for the following:
  • 30yds bear crawl down and crawl bear back
  • 20yds crab walk down and bear crawl back
  • 10yds army crawl and mosey back to LP

Mary:

All IC

  • Low flutters (true low flutters)
  • High flutters
  • Dr. Ws (Sonar was there)
  • Jane Fondas
  • LBCs
  • Some ankle touch thing that burns your F3 logo off the back of your shirt, or gives you road rash.

Reflection:

Nothing (a verse) was pulled from the internet. Instead, YHC spoke about asking for help. Finding courage, as a man, and being able to ask others for help. Additionally, we spoke about hope, and how things will improve and help is easier to find, and enabled, once one has hope. Mentions of Schneider were made, and how YHC hopes to never have to deal with that for anyone else. One is too many, however, statiscally speaking, of the 15 there today, a good percentage struggle with depression and/or anxiety. Find someone you trust and talk to them, write them a letter, text, call, Ask the Lord, just do something…when you do…there is hope and with hope comes help. YHC is not a pro, but has some experience and knowledge and will answer the call 24/7.

Moleskin:

  • Glad to see Bertha back, but worried about his injured back the entire workout
  • Strong effort by Hefty, Comet, Retread, Spork, and Ziplock. Posting, super, early to ruck it.
  • 15 on a Feb. Sat. that's strong.
  • Hefty…thanks for the count tweet.
  • Closer about popped his knee out of socket. Wouldn't allow the Q to ice it, wrap it, or use the AED.
  • Comet is asked to share a Race City mary exercise, instead tells a, long winded, story about why it's called Mattress City. Ok, thanks, but an exercise. #EPIC Can't wait to hear more, maybe Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, of each week here on out.
  • Seems like there are a few that have tug-o-war down pat. Throw something out there that involves competetion and this crew eats it up and spits it out, like grass during the Army crawls.

Enjoyed today, and every day, with you fine fellas
