I’m human – I’ve fallen into a pattern…

Now I’m not about to declare any type of reboot though. I like patterns. I’m an Engineer. I just wanted to visit an AO where I’ve never been before and Q it at the same time. Join me next week where I’ve got the Q at Paininsula.
Today’s workout I pulled from my bag of tricks. It’s called “Super 21”. The first time I Q’d this everybody hated it – probably for two reasons.
- it was raining
- it was cold
- we were on the pavement
After 231 WWI sit-ups, the pavement wears a nice raw spot on the top of your ass. Lesson learned – Super 21s are best suited for something less abrasive than concrete.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. #f3counts. There were TWO of us today. That pretty much cut the mumble chatter to zero because I’m sure Lawn Dart would have been a solid source of some.
Also – I offer my wishes of a quick recovery to Lawn Dart, who is recovering from surgery to his ticker. He has now joined a club of which I am already a member. It’s not one we’d like to see anybody else join, but some things are just out of our control.
Warmup
The standard stuff; SSH, Windmills, ISTs, and then a mosey to the top of the parking lot and back
The Thang
This was a “Super 21”, so that number is the target and the theme of the workout. The pattern is simple; you’re either working your way up to 21 or for the “break” exercises you do 21 reps.
The pattern:
Do 1 `merkin, do 1 ` WWI sit-up. Then do 2 `merkins, then do 2 sit-ups. Then do 3 `merkins followed by 3 WWI sit-ups. That’s the first set. We do that pattern {1,2,3}, then we do a break exercise. Then we come back and do a set where the reps are 4, 5, and 6 – followed by another break exercise. You keep going with that pattern, i.e., 7-8-9, break exercise, 10-11-12, break exercise, 13-14-15, break exercise, 16-17-18, break exercise, and finally 19-20-21.
For the break exercises we did:
- 2 sets of 21 reps of Mountain Climbers (after 1-2-3)
- 2 sets of 21 reps of Monkey Humpers (after 4-5-6)
- 2 sets of 21 reps of Hillbillies (after 7-8-9)
- 2 sets of 21 reps of Imperial Storm Troopers (after 10-11-12)
- 2 sets of 21 reps of Copperhead Squats (after 13-14-15)
- 2 sets of 21 reps of Step Ups (after 16-17-18)

Thanks for lending me your AO Lawn Dart. I’m sure the low turnout was just random but back in the heart of town we probably take it for granted at workouts that regularly get 12-18 guys. Regardless I took a few minutes to walk around Fallout today and it is a really nice AO. There’s a LOT of variety going on here. Definitely a gem.
Nice to meet you today Tugboat. Keep up the great work. You’re well on your way to a page 2 of your past workouts! I don’t know about you but that was a huge motivator for me.
