The Thang:

 

The bulk of the workout is based around the Marine Corps CFT. Cylinder blocks make a pretty good sub for ammo cans, we didn’t have any practice grenades though unfortunately. That’s on me for not being prepared. Next time. There was going to be some intermediate block presses, but we didn’t have enough for all the PAX, and I lost the sharpee I was using to make signs.

Instead the PAX gave our Illiad brothers (some of whom I believe got a show yesterday at Recovery) a display of physical prowess with some high energy, provocative, glute bridges.

  • Thanks Don Ho for the opportunity to Q again, and thanks for the encouragement to keep Qing (good or bad depending on your opinion of Makhtar n'diayes and burpees). 49 flutter kicks was tough towards the end, I still want to see someone push 100 straight. My millennial psyche is too fragile to handle to BS calls that will ensue to do it myself. Flutter kick showdown next time?

I really enjoying leading workouts. The F3 structure provides enormous creative potential. Qing 3 times in a week was a blast, all three workouts were so much different, and very few of the PAX were repeats (whether that’s a good sign or not). I think this is my 10th or 11th Q since I EH’d in February, and I look forward to many more during the summer of Qbert Qs. I have some pretty fun and dumb ideas soon to come!

 

I will leave you with this, the Reconnaissance Creed. In what seems like another life, I dedicated myself to this message. I think it is pertinent to not only Recon Marines, but to every man. Strive to be a better man in all aspects of your life, fitness or otherwise.

 

Realizing it is my choice and my choice alone to be a Reconnaissance Marine, I accept all challenges involved with this profession. Forever shall I strive to maintain the tremendous reputation of those who went before me.

 

Exceeding beyond the limitations set down by others shall be my goal, sacrificing personal comforts and dedicating myself to the completion of the Reconnaissance mission shall be my life. Physical fitness, mental attitude, and high ethics – The title of Recon Marine is my honor.

 

Conquering all obstacles, both large and small, I shall never quit. To quit, to surrender, to give up is to fail. To be a Reconnaissance Marine is to surpass failure: to overcome, to adapt and to do whatever it takes to complete the mission.

 

On the battlefield, as in all areas of life, I shall stand tall above the competition. Through professional pride, integrity, and teamwork, I shall be the example for all Marines to emulate.

 

Never shall I forget the principles I accepted to become a Reconnaissance Marine. Honor, Perseverance, Spirit and Heart. A Recon Marine can speak without saying a word and achieve what other can only imagine.
