And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers. The name of the first is the Pishon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there. The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush. And the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
DC’s Application: Mention of 4 rivers that created a border of the Garden “safe area”. This Garden of Eden was a showcase of the magnificent beauty God intended and wishes upon his creation. It wasn't coincidence, wasn't an accident, but rather a safe place to be enjoyed. Mentions knowledge of evil of the tree, so evil was present. Never says there wasn't evil or what was outside that garden. And later hear of evil and place them out of the Garden. Where there is struggle. I see F3 as a Beautiful Garden that brings God and us pleasure. It's safe, loving, accepting, and welcoming. The way god intended us to live. Take that out of this protected garden to our community.
