Hard at work in the Fartlek lab, YHC was in search of the perfect route that had eluded him for some time. How to incorporate a route from the WF clubhouse, get the acceptable mileage, cover some new terrain and even more importantly end up on a greenway somewhere and somehow. The plan that was cooked up was risky and might be immediately rejected by the PAX. But the risk was worth the reward.
Eight brave souls showed up, not prepared for what was in store for them. Cedarfield? Nope. Ranson Loop? Not a chance. Culdesucks? Forget about it. The route was announced and fear immediately spread like wildfire. "WESTMORELAND?" the PAX cried. "You're making us run to WESTMORELAND? That's like 15 miles!" YHC desperately tried to calm the PAX, ensuring that Westmoreland was off limits and that we'd be cutting through from the Birkdale Greenway into Robbins Park and back.
Eventually we were on our way and back, around a 10K in total. The new route was a mixed bag. While it was nice to hit a new greenway, the downside was running down and up Northcross. There was a lot more traffic than YHC anticipated but everyone made it back safe and sound. I appreciate the PAX sticking with me on it and thanks to Diehard for the opportunity to lead.
