It’s not too often as an adult that you get to go play with your friends. It is especially rare to get to play with your friends on your birthday. What a lucky man I am as I got to wake up, healthy, happy, and I got to spend time with my friends on my birthday. When I saw the Q for Emmaus open, I thought what a great opportunity to get after it. I figured the guys there may hate me a little but no one regrets pushing themselves once they’re done. I mean doing hard things in life that’s how you grow. And dang it, if I have to grow a year older the homies at the work out can at least grow bigger biceps, stronger lungs, and more mental toughness. So after some soul-searching I decided what a better day than today for a Friday Murph. The tweet went out for a 520 Burpee standard. And the great Don Ho as well as Kosar joined me. Swingstate obviously did not want any of that as he was the last guy to show (2 to 3 minutes late for the actual work out).We then gathered the crew, and like a doctor having to tell a patient bad news, I quickly ripped off the Band-Aid and told the gents we were Murph-ing today. I may have seen a few lips quiver, a trickle of urine down a few legs, but away we went, all 17 strong. We almost lost a few guys from swingstate coming in hot/late. He reminded me of the girls from the barre class storming in late before the door gets locked. We all made it to the Birkdale clubhouse. The Murph was done via sets of 5/10/15. We struggled mightily with our counting. Yes I can still not figure out how to lead a work out in cadence. Huge mental hurdle. Still have not got over that hurdle. Honeysuckle blue certainly knows how to count in cadence he just forgot how many reps a few times. We probably woke up every neighbor in a mile vicinity from our aggressive baritone counting. But hey it was time for them to get up and get after it!We then made the mosey home, everyone made it back! I think.Really appreciate everyone stepping their game up. Sometimes life just punches you right in the nose. Doing tough things like you did today prepares you for all life’s punches, mentally and physically. Getting through beat downs like today will help you understand that you are tough and can get through anything!Way to crush it this AM! Way to EARN THE SUNRISE! LFG!Jobe
