420 but no Crocs at Fartlek

YHC hadn’t put in any consecutive miles since the Christina Latini 8K about 1.5 weeks ago, so YHC went to the calendar wondering what some mean runner might make me do if I posted at Fartlek this morning…  well, alas – no Q was signed up, so YHC took fate into my own hands.

14 pax arrived in the gloom to run whatever route whatever Q had planned and we would launch at 0530 after brief greetings.  Seen out running at the same time and area but started earlier was Jorel, and YHC was told MiniMe also arrived to sort-of run our route but he musta been so late that he couldn’t make COT either – never saw him.

The route and a promise were both given.  The route:  Up Hugh Torance, right at the traffic circle (quietly of course), down hardcore hill, u-turn at the bottom and back up hardcore hill, down to the 4-way (known by bootcampers of The Wilderness as Queens Corner), left into the ‘hood de Wynfield and wind around until Parkcrest dumps out onto Wynfield Creek Pkwy again, right and back to the clubhouse.  That’s approx 1.4 miles.  Challenge was given to run that loop 3x but YHC felt (and challenged the pax appropriately) some could get a 4th lap in.

Following the route and the challenge, YHC made the promise that there would be as much downhill route as there was uphill and after much internet research YHC has found this to be true.  So with the route, the challenge and the promise all given, all the pax’s headlamps became lit and watches began to beep and we were off.

The steep Moleskine:

Fairly certain all pax got the 3 full loops and some pax ran a little extra – possibly getting a full 4th loop or perhaps just some extra to ensure they hit 5 miles.  Some pax just took the 3 and crushed it and took an earlier finish.  YHC enjoyed a nice 9:16 mosey pace with Tammy Faye and a good amount of 9-Lives, Mulligan and a dash of Kosar.

YHC’s watch struck 4.20 miles as YHC turned into the clubhouse which made me miss Crocs for some reason.

Not listed in the pax count (well, listed as FNG-1) would be Burning Man.  Met him for the first time today.  His shorts were mesmerizing.  I think they could have hypnotized me had I been able to run close enough to him to see them.  But he took off at the start and YHC never saw him again.

Primetime was not able to stay on the course today due to a code followed by a different code and consider yourself warned – he’ll tall you all about it if given the opportunity.

QvQs this week:

Wednesday Mad Scientist Returns!  YHC has selected this AO (Disc Pl Kids Deck) tomorrow to face The Champ – Omega.  Come join me for my Cinderella Story…

Thursday at Dragon Slayer (St Marks Church) featuring AM-PM vs Ping.  Certain to be an epic battle and beatdown for all.

Prayers for many but please say one for Burgoo and his family.  They’ve placed his mom into the care of Hospice in SC.
