Today, Crocs handed the keys to Emmaus back to me. After he and Ramrod carried Emmaus for the last few years with their stewardship I felt the nudge to from SkyQ to retake the lead. There were a few logistical changes with start times and content and the blessing of the exiting MQ and we were off.

There were some sleepy faces showing up at 04:55 for a bootcamp and mumble chatter was in healthy supply. Crocs led the group in a Tour De Birkdale with lots of Muricans, squats, warm-o-rama exercises, stretches, and some questionable movements that at a minimum were not burpees. We were graced with the presence of Candy Shoppers, Pop Corn and Sack for a brief moment. When “no burpees” were announced I cried a little on the inside and Pop Corn and Sack left for other running enjoyment.

1st F ended with a series of stretches and name-o-rama.

3rd F began expeditiously after TP got is double spice, mocha-choka-latte-grande-doublepump, hot water with chai-cafe Thanksgiving/Christmas blend… non-fat. It only took a second.

Today we talked about gaining alignment in our lives vs. balance. We also took a quick flyby of the G3L and each PAX analyzed and shared where he felt he was in the Get Right phase. Some said fitness, some said professional, and others weren’t in that phase. The good work is not finding yourself in one of the phases. The good work is in reflecting on what stage you might be in.

Most men put themselves last in the name of being selfless. This is a mistake. I don’t mean you should put yourself before others. What I mean by this is in order to be of service to others, you must be pouring into them from a full cup. Emptiness is not a gift you want to give your family.

“Don’t try and figure out what the world needs. Figure out what makes YOU come alive. Then go do that because what the world needs is more men fully alive.” John Eldredge.

G3L

  • Get Right
  • Live Right
  • Lead Right
  • Leave Right

Question to wrestle with:

  • What phase you are in with respect to each of the three major areas of life (self, relationships, and professional)?
  • What would need to be absolutely true for you to have answered the next phase? (For example, if you are in the “get right” phase in fitness, marriage, fatherhood, career, what would need to be absolutely true for you to have said you were in the “live right” phase?)

Emmaus Format:

  • 5:00 – 5:30 1st & 2nd F
  • 5:30 – 6:15 2nd & 3rd F

Moleskin:

Every man went home differently than they came today. The more you invest in yourself, the more you and others will harvest. Come one. Come all. Together we will push each other to our potential as men and serve our loved ones, our colleagues, our communities, and our brothers.
