June 2nd Speed for Need “Race to Zero” 5K BB

Additional Pax:  Storm, Giselle, The Truth, C-Note

Track Commanders:  Reid Foreman, Zach Howard, Sing Chu

24 PAX and 3 awesome track commanders set out on June 2, 2018 in the Huntersville Business Park for Above and Beyond's inagural 5k race to raise money to send local people on global missions trips.

We met at Joe Gibbs Racing lower parking lot and began setup at about 6AM.  Most of the PAX rolled in around 7AM so we could meet our track commanders Zach, Reid, and Sing.

Zach Howard (9 years old) and Reid Forman (11 years old) are both exceptional kids with Down's Syndrome that live in the Lake Norman area.  Our F3 LKN PAX were really blessed meeting these awesome kids.  We have to admit, it's kind of easy when you have kids as cool and awesome as Reid and Zach.  Nonetheless, both kids had an amazing time and this is what their Moms had to say about it:

After watching the video, Cammie Howard, Zach's Mom, said, "I just had tears streaming down my face as I watched this.  Thank you so much!"

Likewise, Cheri Foreman, Reid's Mom said, "Reid is sill on cloud nine and Toby (H.) and I … our hearst are still SO FULL!."

Here is the video:

As you can see in the video, Gypsy was on the flag most of the time and refused ot let it go.  Having OGs out there like Outlaw and Callahan and Moses was really cool as well.  These men are our forefathers for F3 LKN and having that kind of support behind a cause or event felt very good.

Gnarly Goat brought us in the last 500 yards with a Gnarly Goat cadence.  See the video above.  Most of the men joined in the chant.

Sing Chu was our adult participant.  He shared his story with us about being paralyzed after falling at a trampoline park with his kids.  Sing was an engineer and had a good time sharing his work history with Moses and several other PAX.  We were blessed to hear his story and get to know him better.

Above and Beyond, F3, and Speed for Need all partnered together for this amazing inagural event, Race to Zero 5K.  Thank you so much DON HO for all your support.  Thank yo LEGO for all your support.  Thank you JRR Tolkein as well.
You men are the heartbeat of this organization, and we were so, so blessed to be a part of it.

And a HUGE thanks for our NC State House Representative John Bradford "The Truth" for participating and pushing in the race.  Many of you don't know, but John has a 20 year old intern with Down's.  He is so supportive in our community and please, please remember him on the ballot in November.  He's the REAL DEAL!

Until next time,

Scrappy
